student pets a goat

McAnnulty recently celebrated the “Best Day Ever!” In the morning, students had the opportunity to see, pet, and interact with animals from a petting zoo. There were goats, cows, puppies, and even kangaroos! Students also got to help feed the animals. Some animals were fed with bottles, while others happily ate right out of little kindergarten hands! It was an amazing morning filled with smiles, laughter, and fun.

students play bingo together

This month, Pre-K joined our specialized kindergarten classroom for a fun and engaging game of spring picture BINGO, creating a meaningful opportunity for students to learn and play together. The students searched for spring pictures like flowers, butterflies, and rainbows as each card was called, and they were so excited when they found a match! Some friends even helped others by pointing to pictures on their boards when they had trouble finding them. Students cheered each other on and were genuinely excited when someone won and called “BINGO!” After BINGO, we used Play-Doh to create different spring pictures from the game.
The activity was a great way for students to play, learn, and interact together in an inclusive setting. It was wonderful to see students helping friends, celebrating each other’s successes, and simply enjoying time together while practicing important social and communication skills.

Students look up from working on experiments at a table

McAnnulty's Dream Wednesday program brings an extra opportunity of discovery and joy to our kindergarten classrooms.  The "Star Wars House" at McAnnulty used rainbow-themed science experiments to enhance these moments of wonder. One favorite activity was the “walking water” rainbow experiment, where students used cups of colored water, paper towels, and a bit of patience to watch colors travel and blend. As the water “walked” from one cup to another, children saw primary colors like red, yellow, and blue mix together to create new colors such as orange, green, and purple. This simple yet magical process helped young learners understand basic color theory while building excitement around scientific observation.
