Video Cameras on Transportation Vehicles
The Board of School Directors authorizes the use of a video surveillance camera system on vehicles used for the transportation of pupils. The purpose of the system is to support the discipline polices of the school district. The operation and use of the video surveillance system shall be included in the student readership and the driver inservice training programs.
Notification of the video surveillance system on such vehicles shall be provided to parents, students, and staff. A notice shall be placed in each vehicle indicating that such a surveillance system may be in operation.
Video tapes will be maintained in the Transportation Office for a period of ten school days following the date of taping except in those instances where disciplinary action is pending. Employees responsible for implementing the discipline policies of the school district shall be permitted to view the tapes. A student and his/her parents may view only that portion of a video tape which relates to the discipline of the student.
