If a child
is absent, the parent or guardian must call the
elementary school affected and report the absence
to the school secretary.
*
If a parent
fails to report the child absent, the school will
call the parent to verify the absence.
*
Working parents must
make work telephone numbers or telephone numbers

Student
Attendance, Educational Tours and Trips, Not School Sponsored
*
Students
may be excused from school attendance to participate
in non-school sponsored tours or trips of educational
value. Approval of Superintendent, or designee,
shall be obtained in advance.
*
Students
may be excused for non-school sponsored educational
trips provided that a written request including
a statement of the educational value of the trip
is submitted to the building principal two weeks
in advance of the trip. The building principal will
determine the appropriateness of the trip as an
educational experience and will authorize the students
participation.
*
The parents and student
are expected to fulfill the stated educational components
of the trip as presented and the student is also
responsible for classroom assignments during the
period of absence. Parents should make every effort
to schedule on non-school days and, if unsuccessful,
to minimize the child's absence.

*
Upon being
satisfied that the terms of this policy are being
met the Superintendent shall advise the religious
group that the request has been approved and of
their responsibility to keep records of attendance.
*
Principals of building
where interested pupils attend shall also be so
advised.
*
Individual parents may
then request the Principal to release a child at
the appropriate time. Such released time shall not
exceed one hour per week.
